- There are the remains of an old distillery situated about half-a-mile outside Cloughjordan on the Borrisokane road. It was so situated because it was near a river to work the mill-wheel.About the year 1861 this distillery was in operation. It belonged to Mr Edward Kennedy and it turned out about forty casks of pot whiskey every fourteen days. Stoppage was caused by the termination of the lease. After a while the distillery went to ruins for the want of use and the walls of it still remain.
