  1. On the fringe of Derrylahan wood you will see growing an evergreen bush about sixteen feet in height. It is called the "priests bush". It is situated in the middle of Derrylahan Bog. This bog is very lonely and Mass used to be celebrated under it in the penal days. It stands a mile or more from the public road. We are also told about another "priests bush" about a mile or so in from the main road from Birr to Borrisokane. This bush is growing on the land of Mr. Doughan near his dwelling house. Mass was also celebrated under this bush in the penal times. The townland in which it is growing is called Sharragh.
