  1. About one hundred years ago there lived in Rathcabbin a local poet called Laurence Dillon. He was a very witty man. He was famous on account of his rhymes. When the Pallas Church was built, Laurence went over to see it. The minister asked him to say something about it Laurence composed the following verse:-
    "Four corners and four spires
    To decorate the House of Liars"
