    They are considered unlucky if they appear on the road, when a man is going to a farm or a market or n any other important business.
    The magpie steals young chickens and ducks. The hawk and the scald-crow are very destructive also, and are very plentiful in this locality.
    The crow is supposed to commence building her nest on 1st March. If 1st March falls on a Sunday the crow is supposed to know it is the Sabbath Day and she will not commence building until the next day. She builds in an ash tree generally.
    The blackbird builds in a low bush in a hedge, as does the thrush also.
    The swallows and stares and martins build in the eves of houses and in old disused houses or in a barn.
    The corncrake comes in May and builds in a meadow.
