  1. On the road from Limerick to Knockea there is a gate leading to a field and it is called the Spirits’ Gate. One night Dinny O’Brien from Skule was on his way home from Limerick. At the Spirits’ Gate a big black dog jumped up beside him in his car. The jennet he was driving looked back and saw the dog and took fright and ran away until he reached Ballynagarde where he met a man riding a headless horse who stopped the runaway.
