  1. If the weather is dry and rain is near:-
    1. A blue light, purplish blue, comes in the fire, and is not seen at any other time.
    2. A cement floor begins "to weep" (get wet).
    3. The flag stone (on the hearth) gets wet.
    4. The "distant hills look nigh".
    5. The "miskitties" (midges) are out.
    6. Swallows flying low.
    7. Crickets cry in the fireplace.
    8. When fog on top of the hill (pinnacle) goes back the hill - rain is due. when it comes over, fine weather is at hand.
    9. When fog comes out from Kilbekenny (village at foot of Galt[?] seen from here) expect bad weather but when it goes in, it leaves us with fine weather.
