  1. 1. If a cock crows after twelve (midnight) it is a sign someone is going to die.
    If he crows repeatedly for say a week or more some member of the family is to go.
    2. Never lend salt
    3. When visiting a neighbour's house bring a branch (small piece) of a growing bush in, in your hand and throw it into the fire for "good luck"
    4. Never throw out the ashes oftener than once a week and never on any account do it on a Monday.
    6. Lend nothing on May Eve.
    7. Do not go into a house when returning from a wake or funeral.
    8. Before going to bed be careful that the bucket is filled with fresh water.
    9. Do not forget to "place the chairs" in the kitchen and leave the tongs at the right-hand side of the fire.
    10. "Wednesday' is the "lucky day' - being nothing on any other day.
    11. If you should happen to find money keep it - that is 'luck', or if a visitor calls and gives money to the children that is 'luck' and we spit on it and keep it again for 'luck'
