    At the foot of the same hill on the side away from the hill is the remains of a little house, known as "Potch's Cowl".

    caused no trouble in the dinner arrangement as the garden could be very plainly seen from the house. According, when the dinner was being got ready, the man of the house and his son-in-law who happened to be there that day, went outside the house to see how many dinners should be sent to Potch's.
    They came in and announced that the workman was there and so two dinners were to be sent to the garden. The son-in-law took the dinners to the garden and could hardly believe when he arrived, that there was only one man there and that there had been no second man in the garden all that day.
    The son-in-law remained picking the potatoes and when later in the day the owner of the farm brought the four o'clock (tea sent out to workmen some time in the evening, generally about four in the afternoon) he again brought a supply for an extra man. It was suggested that the extra food be sent home but the old man could not hear of it and it was left on a rock in the garden.
    The appearance of another man in the garden could never be explained as there was nothing near to throw a shadow, but the garden was so good that year that the single man turned out as much potatoes as could easily have been the work of two men in
