  1. My townland is Ballyshane. It is in the parish of Aghada. It is in the barony of Imokilly. There are about twelve families in it and over fifty people altogether. Kelly is the most common name in it.
    There is one old woman there; she is over ninety. No one can speak Irish except for a few words.
    There are not many thatched houses here nowadays, most of them being slated. They were more numerous in olden times. A great many have fallen. Most of the people went to America and other places.
    The land is good, but there are a couple of small bogs. There
