    person who has the temerity to destroy one. However there was a 'rath' situated in the corner of a small field about a half mile north of this schoolhouse which was excavated by another eminent Archeaologist the Rev. Edmund Barry afterwards P. P. Rathcormac. The result of his investigations were embodied in a work on Irish Antiquities published some years ago.
    The account was got from Thomas Hegarty a native of Guileen, aged 73.

    Loch Ruad
    About a mile and a half from the village of Guileen, lies a lake which is called "Loc Ruad" covering about four acres in Winter and about three in Summer. It is drained by the Guileen River which flowes into the Atlantic Ocean.
