- There is not much to be seen in the way of Antiquities in this Parish, except Corkbeg Abbey in a corner of the graveyard there; but there are also some ruins of a monastery, or as some say "The castle of the Condons" in Corkbeg Island.
At Powerhead are some slight remains of a former stronghold built by a local chief called Power or La Poer. It was built on a promontary: the indentations of the foundations of the castle can still be traced. It was overthrown by the "Sugan Earl" of Desmond.
There are many "forts" or "raths" in the district, and are allowed remain only because of the popular superstition that ill-luck will overwhelm any(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Faisnéiseoir
