  2. Birth-Marks and Baptism - Beliefs Regarding Same

    The belief is current in this district that a child born with a caul or thin membrane covering head, will be lucky. One such child was born recently in this parish, Nurse informs me. The parents preserve and keep the caul.
    It is held that people who were not properly baptised can see spirits.
