  1. This night was the Eve of the 1st of November.
    It was a great night for dances in the country houses.
    There were different games played on that night.
    1) Burning nuts.
    This was done by burning hazel nuts in the fire and then putting them into a basin of cold water.
    Everybody would watch the two nuts floating on the water.
    If they kept together the pair would be married.
    If they separated they would not be married.
    2) Melting lead.
    This was played by getting lead and melting it in an old saucepan.
    When it was melted they got a basin of cold water, held a key over the basin and poured the lead through the ring of the key.
