  1. During the Penal Days five pounds was offered for a priest's head.
    A priest who lived in Kilcolman had to go on a sick call one night. No one was supposed to be out after night-fall.
    At midnight when the priest was coming home riding on a white horse he heard the horse-soldiers coming on. He moved aside to let them pass. There was an officer in front of them and another behind them.
