The observance of "Fools' Day" (a name given to the first of April) is being forgotten like many of the old Irish customs.
In olden times "Fools' Day" was looked forward to with great delight by all children. The minds of the children would be at work the night before, planning the best way to "make a fool" of somebody next morning.
Both young and old enjoyed the antics carried on.
One of the old customs was:- A note was given to a person to take to a far off house and in the note would be written "Send the fool further", and the person that would get
