    They always lodged in the houses where they taught. English, tables, and writing were the subjects taught. Irish was seldom spoken. English books were only ones used in the school. Writing was done with slate and pencil. The children were arranged in classes and were seated on stones which were placed on the floor. Many children attended the school. The teachers remained in the locality for many years.
