- As a cure for scour in calves, the milk was heated by means of limestone. A lump ("stone") of lime is put into the milk, or more if required. Absorbing water from the milk, the stone disintegrates and sinks along the bottom of the vessel. The milk is then drawn off and given to the calf.

The same power was possessed by a man who was born on Good Friday, and baptised on Easter Monday.
