    No sooner had they it up than it was blown down into ribbons. The fog was very heavy all that time and then it was clearing. Then they did not know where they were. The steamer was all the time drifting near the rocks. The sea was passing over the vessel. The Captain told them to go on deck. When the vessel struck the rock two men jumped on the rock and there was not space enough for the two to stand they fell into the water and got drowned. The vessel struck the rock again Another man jumped on the rock and saved himself. He got a rope and threw it to the others and they managed to land on the rock one at a time
