Long ago in this district no one would give a mare to remove a corpse or green flax...

    (continued from previous page)
The following story is reported to be true. A certain man saw a hare among the cattle in the field on May morning. His dog promptly hunted the hare, and the man followed the chase which led towards a neighbouring house. He saw the hare vanish in the door the dog at its' heels. The man entered the house to find the hare transformed into a woman. Blood flowed profusely from her leg. The dog had bit her and the animal was still in a great fury. She had been caught in disguise at her devilment.
