   Some of the local superstitions in which the people of this locality believe in are: -

   If the cock crows at an unusual hour of the night some member of the house will die.
   If a picture falls off a wall it is a sign of an immediate death in the house.
   If a knock is heard at the door during the night and when it is opened if there is not anybody there it is a sign that a relation is dead.
   If you saw a horse-shoe on the road and to throw it over your head you will have good luck.
   If you saw a piece of iron on the road or if you saw a star falling and if you wished for something you would get it.
   If you counted the stars of the plough seven nights in succession you would meet the person you would marry.
   If a person broke a mirror he would have bad look for seven years.
   It is also said that if a person sees one magpie he will have sorrow, two for luck, three for a wedding, four for a funeral, five for silver, six for gold and seven for a story that never should be told.
   The local superstitions about the weather in this district are: - a fine Friday a fine Sunday, a fine Sunday a fine week.
