    We'll bring them both upon our knees
    And fill their mouth with bread and cheese.
    One person has a money-box and he puts the money he gets from house into it. When a large amount is collected they divide it equally amongst themselves.
    on St John's night a bonfire is lit at the end of the potato garden, so that the wind will blow the smoke over the potatoes. It is believed that this will prevent the blight. On good Friday it is a custom to go to the strand and gather shell-fish and boil them for the dinner. On St Patrick's Day mostly every-body gathers the three leafed- shamrock and wears it on that day. It is a sign of good luck.
    Candles are lit in every window on Christmas night and they are also lit on New Year's night and on Little Christmas night. On Shrove Tuesday night it is a common custom to bake pan-cakes and they are eaten for the supper. This night is locally called "pancake night". If it rains on St Swithin's day which occurs on the 15th July it is believed that it will rain for the following forty days
    On Hallowe'en many games are played such
