  1. A Song

They call me a naughty spoiled girl

They call me a naughty girl
I know I am as bold as they think, yet I work all day in the garden, I'll scrub and wash up at the sink, But I'll powder my nose when work's over, and put on my prettiest frock; And I'll waltz round the hall with our chauffeur, just to give by "grand" mama a shock, Oh I hate being prime and being snobby, takes the sunshine of life all away, I'd much rather be poor and be happy and live in the ordinary way.
Our chauffeur is a really nice fellow the gardener too isn't bad, but I did get a lecture I tell you, When I said last night to my dad: he stormed, fumed and got fussy, and said he would send me away. He called me a bold little hussy That got far too much my own way My mamma was awfully angry With temper she stamped on the floor until I would stand it no longer, so I ran out banging the door I met Jimmy outside at the garage, This I forgot to say in his name; I told him all that happened My poor little girl? that's a shame But soon I was happy and laughing and forgot I came out to cry for we've planned to elope in the morning and we'll steal out the car bye and bye.
