  1. There is only one forge in the parish of St John's. A man by the name of Michael Coyle presently owns it. His father also had this job and his present son is now learning the trade and is able to do many useful things in it in his father's absence. Old Paddie Coyle was a very decent kind hearted man in his time. he was a great vet for curing horses and often walked miles to a neighbour to cure a horse and never charged anything for doing so. One night as he had just a horse cured he was shot by the Black and Tans.
