  1. There was a man living in Rossmacowen by the name of Maurice Power. He was a great teacher and had great Irish. He was teaching in Rossmacowen first and then he went to Carbery. He was teaching here about six years. He was teaching about twenty children and had [?] pounds a year. The school was under a large rock. The subjects they had were :- Irish, English, and Sums. The teaching was not agreeing with his health and he came home to Rossmacowen and he had a big shop afterwards.
