  1. In olden times the people lived chiefly on potatoes.
    At that time they used no tables only a piece of timber like the leaf of a table with a leg on one end and the other end resting on the settle. They made stampy out of the black potatoes. They had no knives or forks at that time. All they had to drink was milk and water. Sometimes they used to have yellow meal gruel for their breakfast.
