are not to be seen, when Clonakilty bell is heard ringing far away rain may be expected. "A rainbow in the morning is the shepherd's warning, a rainbow at night is the shepherd's delight." A blue light in the sky is the sign of storm. When the train is heard puffing it is a sign of rain. The cat sits near the fire, and the dog eats grass before rain. When the smoke comes out of the chimney and goes up straight, when swallows fly high, when the sky is of a bright colour, and the floor is very dry fine weather is expected. Cats keep out of doors, and crickets are not heard, and the fire lights brightly in fine weather.
