    People also walked to Ballymahon to the woollen mill and got their yarn woven into blankets and frieze and carried home their goods. This is a distance of fifteen miles.
    The women walked to Longford a distance of ten and sometimes twelve miles and carried fowl and sometimes a firkin of butter in a cleeve on their backs.
