  1. Bread-making
    Mrs Jane Hanley of New-Ruskey told me how they used to make bread in the olden times.
    She said this was the way they used to make boxty. First she used to get potatoes and wash them clean then they used to peel them she used to grate them with a grater.
    When she had them grated she used to get a nice white cloth and put the grated boxty into it and strain the water off them.
    When she had the water strained off them she said she used to put it out on a bread board.
    She said she used to mix flour and salt with the boxty she also used to put butter-milk in it.
    Then she said she used to put down the pan on the fire, and cook the boxty on it. When one side was cooked she turned it on
