The swallows are said to be true weather prophets when they fly low rain is sure to follow. Wild Geese are a sign of bad weather. If a cat is seen scraping timber it is a sign of a storm while if he sits with his back to the fire rain is expected. Blue flames in the fire are a sign of rain.
