- (continued from previous page)Long ago people had a cure for a swelling by boiling chicken-weed and taking the juice out of it when boiled, and washing the swelling in it. There was also a cure for a pain in the ear, by roasting an onion in the fire until the skin would fall off it, then it was put into the person's ear, and it would cure immediately.
