  1. The following prayers are said by an old man Thomas Horhan morning and evening :—
"O Virgin! Be praying, be praying for me in the morning and in the evening; and open the gates and show us the way to Heaven and let other poor souls into heaven."
When lighting the lamp or candle. — "Go Lasaiḋ an Maiġdean Ṁuire coinneal duinn i bḞlaiṫeas".

  2. (I)
When I lay down on my right side
I give my soul to God to guide
And if any evil come to me
The Blessed Virgin may save me.
    (II)
When I lay down to sleep
I give my soul to God to keep
And if any trouble comes to me
Jesus Christ will set me free
    (III)
There are four corners on my bed
There are four angels on them spread
    Matthew Mark Luke and John
God bless the bed that I be on.
