  1. There are many Irish words and phrases used in my district. Some of these are:-

    BÚACHALÁN
    which means a yellow flower and grows in the fields in this district. It is pulled and burned in Autumn.

    DIA LINN
    meaning " God be with us " is said when a person sneezes.

    ADEIR SÍ ( SÉ SIAD etc )
    meaning she said ( he, they ) is usually said when a story is being told

    BOTHAIRÍN
    is a word used for a small road

    GARSÚR, GARSÚN, and BUACHAILL
    meaning a boy is also used

    STÍBHÍN or STÍBHÍN
    is a word used for a stick
