    As the lads and the lassies, for miles all around
    Came to see the bonfire on the old Castle ground.
    The boys from the village, were there by the score
    And a bunch of sweet colleens, from sweet Castlemore.
    They came from Crenane, so dandy and fine
    And a crowd of good dancers from old Kiladine.
    The Clooncara's and Skeheens were there to a man.
    And a gross of old-timers led by
