    In olden days the food was very different to what it is nowadays.

    of tinned fish in those days. Shrove Tuesday was called "Pancake night", it was called this because the people had a feast on this night, and they made pancakes, because they thought them a great treat.
    In those days tea was unheard of. When first it was introduced into the country the people used to put about half-pound of tea into the tea-pot at a time, and then team(?) off the water and eat the tea-leaves. Written by -: Esther Coleman.

    In olden times the people had not so many meals a day as we have now. The rich people had three - and the poorer two. These meals usually consisted of breakfast and dinner: The breakfast consisted of porridge and buttermilk; the dinner of potatoes, salt, butter and sometimes vegetables and a cup of milk; the tea of another plate of porridge or "Stirabout" as it was then called. Some people lived chiefly on potatoes and eat them for every meal.
