  1. One moonlight night a man was coming home from rambling and he saw a leprecaun mending shoes under a thissle. He stole up up him and caught him by the waist. After a while the leprecaun said "look at that black dog behind you"' The man jumped and was about to turn his head when the through came to his mind that if he looked away for a moment the leprecaun would be gone. Just then they saw a man getting over the ditch. "Come on" said the leprecaun "and ever which of you are to me the first shall have the crock of gold"
