Men once tried to unearth it, but failed for something appeared and frightened them away.
Another treasure is hidden up in Glendine and it is guarded by a bull. Once men went to dig for it, and as they hit the lid of the chest, they heard the bull coming at the Cut'a pass leading across the top of the Slieve Bloom mountains, from Mountrath to Clonaslee. This road is called the General's pass. The men fled into a house near by, and the bull knocked down a cowshed outside.
In Feighery's haggard Tinnahinch, there is a bush, under which a pot of gold is hidden. It was hidden in the time of the Danes by the Dunnes who inhabited an old(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
