  2. There was a hedge school in Conroy's field Miskish Inniskeen, Co. Monaghan. The teacher's name was Michael McArdle a native of Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan. There was English, and Irish spoken in this school This school was held in the corner of Conroy's field. The master taught two of Conroy's children and for his pay he used to get his meals. The
