- There is no ruined castle in the school district.
There is a ruined church in the neighbourhood. It stands in the old graveyard just beside the school I could not find out who built it, neither can I say how old it is. It has been derelict for eighty-five or ninety years. There are no traditions given about it. It was never plundered or burned.
It does not contain any carving on the doorways. There are no ornamented stones in the vicinity. The parish Church was in Castlecome and is there still. That Church was kept in good repair, but when Smithstown Church was in bad repair the people let it fall. It was a Chapel of Ease, before it became a ruin, and the people of the district, and passers-by, used often visit it. The graveyard is used as a burial-ground still. There are no towers in the district.(continues on next page)- Informant
