  1. Aubrey De Vere was an Anglo Irish poet. He wrote many poems on the HIstory of Ireland and many of them are held in high esteem throughout the country.
He was a fine big man over six ft. high. He wore a navy cape with a hood on it. He lived at Curraghchase Co. Limerick with his brother, in one of the finest mansions in Ireland, with a few thousand acres of land. His house is five miles from the beautiful village of Adare.
He and his brother Sir Stephen were converts to the R.C. Church. He was unconsious for days before he died. One of the few last words he spoke was for a Confessor. A message was sent to Adare for Rev Father Fitzgerald. He lived for some days after. He died in 1902. The day of his funeral, the snow was several feet high.
