- A Story of St Kenny's Well 22-11-'37
It is an old and historic well. It is stuated at the foot of Croker's Hill. It has given the name of "Kenny's Well", to the neighbourhood extending from Blackmill Street to the Borough Boundary near Kilcreene.
From early in the fourteenth century until about 1773 St. Canice's Day was a holiday of obligation, and it was held with great solemnity in the city to which Canice gave its name.
Many miraculous cures were effected by using the water and invoking St. Canice's aid.
It is said that he used to come up the river Bregra in a boat and pray in the well.
There is a Church situated some distance from the well, which is also cald St Canice'sChristy Kenny. 27 Kennys Well.
