    his little girl dying before his eyes and he had not any money to send her to hospital.
    One very stormy night he and Geraldine heard a noise at the window and Geraldine said:-
    "Grandfather, what is that noise at the window?" He answered:-
    "Oh it's only the trees tapping against the window, now go to sleep and you wont feel so hungry," but she would not rest easy until she saw her grandfather go to the door. He was very surprised himself to see that it was not the trees but a little elf that had got into diffeculties in the window sill. So the grandfather set it free and it ran away. An hour later Geraldine and her grandfather heard a knocking at the door. When
