would bring good luck to the house.
    St Bridget's night
    (1) It is believed that if you hang a brown ribbon outside the door St Bridget will come during the night and bless it. If you put that ribbon around you, you would never get sick for the year. Another custom is to make a cross of straw and hang a towel on it St Bridget will come and bless it and the people of the house should wipe their faces with it and it would keep sickness away.
