  1. Amongst the many great Irishmen who have shed lustre on English LIterature the name of the Hon. Thomas Talbot is universally esteemed. He was born and educated in the Village of Owning. Like Goldsmith the Poet of the "Traveller" and the "Deserted Village" he died in exile 1901. Newfoundland is his last resting place.
    In poems such as "The Exile" "Young Ireland" and "Moore" considerable poetic talent is revealed. Though he was undoubtedly a man of "great literary culture and scholastic attainments his work
