Most of them, however, carried two bags, one for oaten meal and one for Indian meal. People seldom gave them mony in olden times, now you insult them if you offer them anything else. These travelling folk are much better off now. They buy their own food and only ask permission to spend the night in the barn or hayshed. Now that we have free trade for farm produce I should think that the few that are travelling will be treated better and I sincerely hope they will.- Collector
