  1. There is a game we like playing in school at lunch time as we need a big crowd for it. This is how we play it. One girl sits down on the ground and the other girls join up in a row about twenty yards in front of her. The girl in the middle of the row is the widow. The row of girls walk towards the girl that's sitting down, and the widow sings:
    "Here's a poor widow from Sandy Land.
    With all her offerings by her hand.
    One can knit and the other can sew.
    The other can make a lily white bow.
    The other can make a bed for the queen, so please take one of my offerings in".
