    The local estate belonged to the French family.

    sons (Farrells) and that she bore her second lord twelve sons (Frenches). Then there were twenty-four children under the same roof. (This would be about 1625 on) When the family grew up there was a dispute about the property and they arranged to have a game of hurling and staked the issue on the result. The Frenches won and held the property.
    The old house of the Farrells has disappeared except the chimney of one end. It is locally called "The Steeple"
