    This friend being in a hurry had no time there to delay
    She immediately met Pat Shannon and told him to get the hay.
    Now day advanced towards evening and the sun went slowly down
    And Dufficy waited for the key but no one came from town.

    He soon lost all his patience it being almost ten o'clock
    And he swore by all that's holy that he'd soon make Pateen hop.
    He started down for Diffley's but Pat he could not find
    But he met with Peter Diffley and they quickly were entwined.
    IX
    They argued it out together till twelve o'clock had some
    Then down to Lacky Shannon's Peter Diffley he did run.
    He quickly told his story and they handed him the key
    And says "You are a lucky man for 'twas nearly thrown away.
