  1. Local Fairs
    All the fairs are now held in towns but in olden times they were held in fields or a cross roads. There were fairs held at Kilnalag in a green field. There were fairs held on the hill of Granlahan but those are stopped now. When these fairs were held on the hills and at the cross roads buyers used to go through the country buying the cattle off the farmer. When people got paid for cattle they give luck money. When people make a bargain they bargain to get so much luck money. When people are making a bargain they make it by striking hands and by spitting. When the buyers would buy some cattle he would clip some of the hair off them.
    Sometimes he would mark them with mud on the flank or mud on the hip. Some of these fairs are held in the
