  1. Food in Olden Times.
    In olden times the food they people had was very poor and it consisted of potatoes and porridge. The food the people had some years was not like what we have now. They used to have potatoes in the morning porridge for their dinner and potatoes for their supper. The people used to work in the morning before having any food. The bread they had was oatmeal bread. They mixed the meal with water and made in to the farm of a cake. Then they baked it by the fire.
    When tea first came into this district the people did not know how to use it. It is said that there was once a woman in Carraghs and when she was having the clergra she wet the tea and when it was drawn she threw away the juice and kept
