    The people of this district say that the larger the ring round the moon is the nearer the storm. If it rains on Saint Swithen's day people say it will rain for forty days.
    When the wind blows from the South West we generally have rain. When a cat sits with her back to the fire its a sign of rain.
    When salt gets damp it is a sign of rain.
    When stars fall at night it is a sign of rain.
    When frogs spawn far in, in the water it is a sign of a dry summer.
    When they spawn at the edge it is a sign of wet summer.
    When they come into the house it is a sign of rain.
